I’m a hero just for going to work

I was watching Sunday Morning yesterday and they did a story on anxiety disorders. They used Monk, a character from a television series (which I love), as an example of a person with multiple disabling phobias (he is soooo annoying). The actor who plays the chronically and obnoxiously-fearful, obsessive-compulsive character talked about how they (people associated with the show) try to be sensitive regarding this disabling disease even though they portray it in a humorous manner. He talked about how his character ‘Monk’ overcomes one of his fears every week in order to solve a crime. Then he said something about how people who suffer from chronic anxiety are the real heroes ‘just for going to work every day’. So I’ve decided that I am also a hero because I have a chronic, irrational fear of going to work. I suffer from a self diagnosed case of ‘Sunday night anxiety’. I believe I inherited the disorder from my mom and I believe my sister Kitty suffers from the same disorder. Luckily, she (my mom, not my sister) found a permanent cure which I hope to try sometime soon. It is called retirement. I guess I should be lucky I don’t have a real, full-blown anxiety disorder, my imagined case of anxiety is bad enough!

I stole this from Kuntrygirl who stole it from someone else.
